Theme Song: His World
The Sonic Universe is a mythical world that is set in a world very similar to ours, it has humans but it also has the same furry, feathery, or scaly creatures that we're all used to seeing on earth. This world is called Mobius.
However, in Mobius all the animals are anthropomorphic and are able to speak as humans do. They don't just speak but they have complex societies and form their own Kingdoms. This world, however, is in peril. For nearly 17 years it's been under siege by Dr. Eggman and his machines.
→The Siege of Mobotropolis
But let's start from the beginning! Sonic began life in the metropolis called Mobotropolis. He presumably was raised by his Uncle Charles (Chuck) for a short time before the kingdom was overtaken. The royal advisor, Dr Eggman, began a coup deat and drove the royal family out of their Kingdom and began to "roboticize" the citizens of the city. "Robotization" is a process in which Eggman could turn any living creature into robot slaves and strip them of their free will. Roboticization had decimated the resistance against him since those who dared fight against him would have to fight these robots, and thus, risk killing those he held dear.
Only a few children and adults were able to escape the city to the nearby village of Knothole. Most notably Sally Acorn, the princess; Bunnie Rabbot, an injured socialite; Antoine D'Coolette, a soldier-in-training; Rotor Walrus, an inventor; Rosie, the royal caretaker; and Uncle Chuck, another inventor.
→The Freedom Fighters
After some years had passed, the children who took refuge in Knothole village couldn't help but wander outside and explore the world around them. They discovered a small vigilante who dared to stand up to Eggman's robots all on his own: a cocky child named Sonic. He promised the Princess that he would defeat Eggman all on his own. Inspired by his bravery, Sally started the Freedom Fighters to stand against Eggman too. If they weren't going to stand up to Eggman and take the Kingdom back, then no one would. After spending time on his own Sonic eventually joined the Freedom Fighters too along with Miles (Tails) Prower.
Over the years the Freedom Fighters worked to thwart countless plans of Eggman for the benefit of Mobius. Their tendencies to trash Robotnik's plans and cause him constant problems earned them the dictators ire fairly quickly. Soon, The Freedom Fighters were known as the main opposition to Eggman's forces.
→The Teams Progression
Over the years, the Freedom Fighters made great strides to regain their Kingdom of Mobotropolis: They freed Sally's father, The King, from his prison, and created their own mobile Sky Fortress. They worked help other continents and became a symbol of hope for the people of Mobius.
The Freedom Fighters often work together with other organizations across the globe for the sake of fighting against Eggman.
However, Eggman has made great strides into conquering the world. He has set up bases with "Egg Bosses" (leaders) who fervently defend their territory on Eggman's behalf. As of recent the Egg Bosses have been successfully expanding their territory across the world.
→The World Crisis
Currently, due to Eggman's latest plot the entire world has broken into several pieces and dark poison, called Dark Gaia, is seeking from the worlds crust. This dark Gaia is causing monsters to appear across the continents at night. The Freedom Fighters were able to discern that to fix the world they would have to collect 7 Chaos Emeralds and place them in temples around the world to fix the damage and put the world back to normal.
(History is subject to change as canon continues to develop.)
The Sonic Universe is a mythical world that is set in a future version of our world; It contains people called "Overlanders" which are similar to humans, and it also has the same furry, feathery, or scaly creatures that we're all used to seeing on earth. This world is called Mobius.
However, in Mobius all the animals are anthropomorphic and are able to speak as humans do. They don't just speak but they have complex societies and form their own Kingdoms. But the Sonic Universe doesn't just contain events that occur on Mobius—no! In fact, Mobius is connected to a plethora of different worlds all of which are unique in their own way. The existence of Mobius is based on a delicate balance between all the worlds, timelines, and zones that are connected to it.
..But we're going to focus on the main storyline of one specific zone in this case.
→Prelude: The Great War
Sonic's particular story starts before he was born. A prosperous Kingdom called the "Acorn Kingdom" was ruled by a fair monarch who was supported by his loyal subjects. Sonic's family was extremely involved within the monarchy — his Uncle worked as the Court's scientist and his parents were closely aquatinted with the kingdom's rulers.
However, the monarchy had fallen into a war with Overlanders (humans) who lingered outside the Kingdom. This was called the "Great War" and it lasted for many many years. Sonic's parents as well as many of the subjects in the kingdom were drafted into the war to defend against the threat of being overtaken by Overlanders.
But the war wasn't the only problem that the Kingdom faced. A coup was in the works within the monarchy itself. The royal advisor - none other than we who we know as Robotnik (Julian Kintobar), an Overlander they had taken in - decided that he was tired of the Mobian way of doing things for no other discernible reason other than he thought he could do things better with his prominent intellect. He began plans to overthrow the Acorn Kingdom and eventually conquer the planet. With the help of his Nephew he began to manipulate the court into constructing the very tools he needed to overthrow the kingdom.
During this time Sonic was born. His parents - Jules and Bernadette Hedgehog - brought young Olgivie Maurice Hedgehog into the world…who promptly ditched that name in favor of a cooler one as soon as he could talk. He's the speedy blue hedgehog we all know as Sonic.
Sonic was extremely young when the problems within the kingdom started to cause the monarchy to fall apart. Though he often played inside the palace with the princess herself it was debatable whether or not he understood what was going on. When the coup d'eat finally took place, Sonic's family as well as many of the kingdom subjects disappeared and he was taken to the outskirts of the kingdom. The escape to the safe-haven called "Knothole" was extremely rushed, So Sonic only had the company of a few other children and the caretakers they'd escaped with.
→The Knothole Freedom Fighters
Sonic largely grew up in hiding from the world outside. Most of those who had fought against Robotnik in the initial uprising had undergone a process called "robotization", which Robotnik had invented to turn any living creature into robot slaves and strip them of their free will. Roboticization had decimated the resistance against him since those who dared fight against him would risk killing those he held dear. The Great War stopped within the vicinity of a day after Robotnik took command, but now they had an even larger threat to deal with.
After some years had passed, the children who were saved in Knothole village couldn't help but wander outside and explore the world around them. Those in Knothole were made well aware of Robotnik and they were to avoid his machines so they would not be roboticized themselves. But as children do in taking cues from the adults, being raised with the company of soldiers from the Great War had influenced the children to take up a similar occupation and fight against Robotnik when they were old enough to.
For the children of Knothole it started as finding robots and throwing rocks at them, or going to the edge of the forest in order to take a look at Robotnik's machine-laced cityscape. Sonic had a particularly infamous reputation for bothering Robotnik's patrols since he was able to get away with it so often.
As they grew this escalated to guerilla warfare and Sonic along with his fellow knothole companions formed the "Knothole Freedom Fighters", a small group of young children who swore to stop Robotnik and free the world from his tyranny. The Knothole Freedom Fighters consisted of former Princess Sally Acorn, Antoine De Coolette, Bunny Rabbot, Rotor Walrus, and Miles Prower (Tails). They named their organization after the Original Freedom Fighters, who were a famous military organization which fought during the Great War.
Over the years the Freedom Fighters worked to thwart countless plans of Robotnik for the benefit of Mobius. Their tendencies to trash Robotnik's plans and cause him constant problems earned them the dictators ire fairly quickly. Soon, The Freedom Fighters were known as the main opposition to Robotnik's forces.
→The Ultimate Annihilator: Endgame
After years of clashes, Robotnik finally decided to enact his "endgame" plan and destroy his opposition once and for all. He managed to manipulate some double-agent Mobians to sneak into his base and framed Sonic for the "murder" of Princess Sally.
Sonic had to become a fugitive for a time and was hunted by not only Robotnik, but his former companions as well. Sonic only managed to prove his innocence by finding an ancient dragon who was able to discern the lies from the truth. Once he was able to prove his innocence, Sonic helped the Freedom Fighters go against Robotnik for one final time.
By this time Robotnik unveiled his weapon called the "Ultimate Annihilator" which was set to wipe Knothole off the map with the Freedom Fighters distracted at the loss of their Princess and chasing Sonic. Sonic managed to infiltrate Robotnik's base to stave off the weapon and barely managed to escape. Robotnik wasn't so lucky and perished by his own machine.
As they all went home, Sonic was informed that the Princess hadn't actually died like everyone had assumed but had fallen into a coma after she'd fallen from a great height. She'd recovered after some time and resumed her duties as the leader of the Freedom Fighters; with Robotnik gone, she was also tasked with rebuilding her Kingdom.
→Rebuilding and Expansion
After Robotnik's defeat his hold over the world began to subside. The Freedom fighters reclaimed their capitolMobotropolisand begun to rebuild it. With Robotnik gone the Roboticized Mobians also regained their free will, though their bodies stayed as machines; They faced some prejudice for this considering the overall populations experiences with machines while Robotnik was in power.
The world overall started to regain some sense of normalcy. With no Robotnik, the Freedom Fighters tasked themselves with resorting finding and freeing the former King and Queen and gathering citizens who had been in hiding for years to restore the Kingdom back to its former glory.
The peace certainly didn't last. It was only a matter of time before Rotor Walrus discovered that Robotnik was still alive in another zone. However, this wasn't Robotnik as they knew him. This Robotnik from another zone was more evil and had already lay waste to many of the other zones in their universe. His name was Robo-Robotnik, or "Eggman" and he arrived to reclaim their newly rebuilt Kingdom. The Freedom Fighters assembled once again and helped the citizens flee to their old Knothole forest base.
….Ugh. This arc. This arc is stupid. Anyway, after some time of fighting with Eggman some aliens randomly arrive and decide that Mobians or humans or whatever are ruining the planet so they use something called the Quantum Dial to eradicate all life. They explain that the planet thousands of years ago used to be ruled by humans and that humans had since been overtaken by mutated anthropomorphic creatures which resulted from their.. experiments or something. Sonic worked with Knuckles to take the Quantum Dial down but then Sonic disappeared into space through some effect of the machine.
So Sonic is randomly in space now. He is gone from Mobius for an entire year and they assume he died taking out the Quantum Dial. He returns to Mobius only to find that Eggman has made quite a lot of headway in taking over the entire planet of Mobius and even was preparing to make a nuclear strike against the Knothole village. There's angst and drama when Sonic comes back aaaand I like to pretend this arc never existedughhhdffffffff.
Somehow, though, stopping the Quantum Dial made it to where all those who were roboticized were turned back into their normal selves and roboticizers no longer work. Since Robotnik was the only one who knew how to create a roboticizer it becomes somewhat of a lost technology.
(There was apparently a couple exceptions to de-roboticization: those whose lives relied on being robotized — like Sonic's father who was fatally wounded in the Great War — were not de-roboticized. )
→Fall of Knothole
As he settles into life on Knothole, Sonic works overtime trying to help clean up the mess that had accumulated while he was gone. He works with the Freedom Fighters to take out Eggman's latest super-inventions and save the city from his nuclear threat. Once they had made enough headway in order to start pursuing other missions, like finding the chaos emeralds, Eggman launched a full invasion which destroyed all of Knothole village.
It was quite a shock for Sonic to have the home he'd always known destroyed before his eyes. Luckily they managed to evacuate the population to another city that was under construction some miles away. This new city was called "New Mobotropolis" and it was created entirely of technological creatures called "nanities", which allowed for better protection and construction of the buildings.
The entire city was governed by an AI that Sally had always kept with her named "NICOLE". Nicole was allowed free reign over the city to protect it or build and repair as needed. She would even take on a physical form to walk the city streets and interact with the locals.
It seemed as though after some time the city they'd created was finally one they could keep consistently safe from Eggman. And after a few more confrontations, Eggman actually went insane from his repeated defeats at the hands of Sonic and the Freedom Fighters. He was locked away, and everything looked to be coming to a close.
This was also time for political change. Instead of keeping with the old ways of having a Monarchy, it was decided to have a counsel who governed the Kingdom. At the head of the Kingdom would be the King but the political leaders would also have say in the decisions of the kingdom. Instead of Sally taking control as the Kingdom's leader, her Long lost brother Elian was elected to take the role of King. This didn't go over too well, but Sally accepted her role as a field commander instead so she could have an active role in protecting the kingdom.
→The Iron Dominion
But unfortunately, Eggman and his relatives had other plans. Snivey, Robotnik's nephew, had coerced a technomage ( and current love interest ) to take control of the Eggman empire in his Uncle's absence. This Overlander named Regina or the "Iron Queen" was able to manipulate machinery through magic. And with the Freedom fighters having an entire city made of nothing but technology….suddenly things didn't bode well for them.
The Iron Queen took control of their city and Nicole with ease. Again, the Mobian's were living in an uncertain future. Sally managed to use her knowledge of technology in order to get back the old Nicole and overthrow the Iron Queen. With the city back in their hands, the Iron Queen was driven out and imprisoned back in her Homeland to the far east.
…Which was great. Except Eggman had returned to his old perky self by then and in order to take back command of his old empire. He now conveniently had one of his potentially greatest enemies taken down for him..
→Team Freedom. Team Fighters.
With the technology around them a cause of uncertainty the Kingdom was at unrest. They'd been overthrown after they were promised security and most of them remained frightened of what would happen next. The counsel voted to ban Nicole from existing in Knothole and for her job to be closely monitored since she was considered too powerful.
In the midst of this uncertainty an old wizard named Ixis Naugus decided to use his cunning in order to swoop in and gain the favor of the counsel and the people. He overtook the young King Elian by making himself seem like someone who could offer the people security. He was soon made King by the citizens of the city. However, Naugus was an evil wizard who never had pure intentions. He couldn't contain his evil for long and it was soon apparent that the Freedom fighters need to try and solve their own problems within the Kingdom before dealing with Eggman.
But even the Freedom Fighters were not able to fight a war on two fronts: one with Eggman and another inside their own Kingdom. The Freedom Fighters literally started falling apart at the seams. Antoine was injured near fatally, Bunny went missing, Princess Sally was roboticized by Eggman (who managed to resurrect the lost art of roboticization), and the Kingdom is still in disarray from their newly appointed King who was growing mentally unstable.
With their leadership and team in shambles, The remaining freedom fighters had to do a little more recruiting and split into teams in order to keep the Kingdom safe. The newly created "Team Freedom" was comprised of Rotor, Big, Cream, Cheese the Chao, and former badniks Heavy and Bomb. They are tasked with keeping the Kingdom itself safe from the inside. "Team Fighters" was comprised of Sonic, Tails, and Amy in order to quell any threats from Eggman outside the Kingdom.
This is where things are in the story currently around issue 250..ish. And yes. That is an extremely condensed history. Comic's been around since 1992, what'dya expect.
The epitome of a free spirit, Sonic is a talented Hedgehog who seeks nothing more than to have adventures and make the most of life. Though some have regarded him as a loose canon who can be unpredictable and reckless, others are are drawn to him because of the allure of freedom and excitement that seems to follow wherever he goes. There's something about Sonic that makes life fun and thrilling for everyone in his company. Even if he can be hard to control, Sonic is a powerful ally who would go great lengths for those around him.
Upon meeting others for the first time, Sonic can give the impression that he's an overconfident risk-taker who's more likely to show off or rush into things than take anything seriously. Some even find him to be a liability because of his knack to ignore the rules. Those assumptions wouldn't be.. entirely wrong. He's definitely guilty of jumping into situations and thinking about the consequences later, or ignoring the rules altogether and doing what he feels is right.
But it becomes apparent that Sonic's actions and words aren't without their reason. He's an optimistic and upbeat individual who's desire for adventure is nothing short of infectious. While he maintains a carefree outlook it's pretty apparent he's able to grasp the possible consequences of his actions. Sonic simply chooses not one to let a situation get the better of his attitude. Even when presented with terrible danger, Sonic is able to meet challenges with a cocky grin and an arsenal of witty quips. ( …And occasionally a laugh to boot. ) If he's not prepared? Outmatched? Bring it on, it's more exciting that way. He makes it a point to live fearlessly, as if there's nothing that stands between him and his goals. Sonic can very easily throw caution to the wind in order for the sake of excitement and having a little fun!
His lackadaisical way of acting and general apt to be impulsive can rub the more serious people the wrong way, but being impatient and impulsive are traits that come natural to a speedy hedgehog like Sonic. Though he knows the value of planning and working in a team, Sonic is very apt to bolt off on his own think of a strategy as he goes or just do what he feels in his gut. He dislikes sitting and waiting especially when there's some important matter than needs his attention. On some level he prefers to think on his feet because not knowing what's ahead is more of an adventure. This potentially risky behavior has been the subject of scrutiny from those who oversee the Freedom Fighters, and on several occasions Sonic has been reprimanded for violating rules and acting on his own.
It doesn't mean that Sonic is against thinking ahead and having a plan. In fact, on many occasions Sonic displays a shocking amount of cleverness which has allowed him to get out of some fairly sticky situations. But being able to appreciate plans doesn't mean that Sonic is always going to put in the time to meticulously think about what he'll do next. If there's something available right there which would allow him to progress? Great. If not, leave planning, strategizing, and brain work to the people who have a forte in it. He knows it's certainly not his strong suite.
Though he can be a bit reckless, Sonic is careful not to let his recklessness get to the point where he becomes a danger to those around him. Over the years he's worked hard to control his abilities and be mindful of others. Though he can still rush past and cause the occasional annoying dust-cloud or things to that effect, it's nothing compared to what he could do if he were careless. This is best illustrated through a foil character named "Scourge the Hedgehog", who is an alternate zone version of Sonic who never learned such restraint. Scourge is extremely destructive and thrives off the abuse of his abilities to get what he wants at the sacrifice of those around him. Sonic is keenly aware at what he could be if he let his own abilities go unchecked, and it's said that he's probably one of the weaker hedgehogs as a result because of how restrained he is. This speaks volumes on how much Sonic cares for those around him despite his seemingly reckless attitude.
But Scourge serves as a daunting reminder of what he could be; as Scourge observed that Sonic was just "one bad day away" from becoming just like him.
So in a conscious effort to not be like Scourge or a too much of a jerk in general, Sonic is not going to exploit his abilities unless he needs to. Though he can be competitive to a fault and dislike losing, He makes an effort not to cross that line between being powerful or capable of achieving and being tyrannical and using his abilities for his personal gain. Though sometimes the need to use his abilities does come in the form of needing to show off and look awesome…Ahem. Yes, sometimes he can be a total showoff and he's definitely not against tooting his own horn, but he's able to realize everything isn't about him and lets others have victories and recognition when they need or deserve it.
It's second nature for him to look out for the well-being of others anyway. Growing up amidst so many other kids instilled Sonic with a natural "big brother" mentality despite being an only child. Though he may not always show it, Sonic is always looking out for the best interest of others. ( He's even managed to show some semblance of pity for Eggman when the Doctor fell victim to his own evil plans. It didn't usually pay off, honestly. ) The best example of this would be his relationship with Tails. He's always looked after Tails and tried to include him in their Freedom Fighter activities despite the foxes young age. From a practical standpoint it was a matter of making sure Tails knew how to take care of himself amidst a war, and as a result Tail became an integral part of their team. The same mentality applies to others that Sonic might interact with or decidedly look out for: Though he may hassle them and give them a hard time, he's always looking out for their best interest and he sincerely cares for those important to him. If you're working with Sonic? Don't worry, he'll always have your back.
Sonic's infamous attitude and skills have earned him a lot of notoriety across the globe for his exploits against Robotnik and Eggman. Even though he may seem like a leader amidst the Freedom Fighters because of all this notoriety, Sonic is actually a subordinate of Princess Sally—who is the actual leader of the Freedom Fighters. And you know what? He'd rather be a subordinate any day because it comes with comparatively less responsibilities. He can be a leader if the situation requires, but Sonic is someone more at home with taking action rather than having everyone look to him for the answers — Let someone else take care of politics and organization while he does his own thing. This is made extremely prominent when the Freedom Fighters started to fall apart and had to rely on Sonic for leadership and support. Sonic didn't make judgement calls that would be indicative of a leader at first, and it's apparent how much he asks for others' opinions compared to more seasoned leaders. When tasked with making decisions that impact the well-being of many he can be surprisingly doubtful in his own skills and he can come off as a little clumsy and unconfident when giving orders. In the case of this arc, his first instinct was to charge after their enemies by himself in order to fix their problems. Only when he stopped to listen to his allies pleas to stay for sheer moral support did he stick around to try and console those who remained with him.
Sonic is most out of his comfort zone when it comes to mundane things like making important decisions, being confined by rules, or being helpless. He doesn't do well with boundaries and when he's forced to deal with limitations it can bring out the ugly parts of his personality. This is made extremely prevalent when he's not able to come through for people when they need him, like when Antoine was almost killed while on a mission with Sonic. In that case Sonic locked himself in his room and wouldn't even speak to anyone simply because he didn't know how to handle it other than to feel extremely guilty. Sonic is so used to being the hero that having something he can't accomplish can put him in a sour mood. But he tries not to let it get him down for too long. After all, sitting idle and moping about a situation never fixed any of those things… And sitting idle is definitely not Sonic's style!
Overall, Sonic is an ally that you'd want on your side. At his best Sonic can be adventure-loving, reliable, fun, and the type of person who makes everyone around them want to push their limits. At his worst Sonic can be a huge show-off, impatient, hard to control, and someone who just has a hard time following the rules.
That's right, Sonic is extremely fast and would be impossible for normal people to keep up with. He isn't called Sonic for nothin'. Along with that he's agile and athletic enough to make good use of his super speed, able to quickly change the direction he's running in and make extremely fast moves in order to avoid obstacles. His super-speed can also manifest itself in several speed-based abilities such as spin dashing. *
The comics definitely tend to be more violent than the animated series. To that end, It's extremely common for the characters in this series to know how to defend themselves and Sonic is no exception to that. Though he would much rather rely his abilities to their fullest than take someone in a hand-to-hand fight, he does no how to defend himself adequately even without his abilities. This is definitely not his forte as it would be for power characters like Knuckles, But even so don't underestimate him. He always has natural athleticism to fall back on.
Though not as pertinent here, Hedgehogs are shown to have longer lifespans than human beings. Their average lifespan can extend to be 2 or 3 times of humans (roughly estimated considering how they age in canon, though the Sonic X series implied it was many times that..) It's not unusual for Hedgehogs to look nearly the same after 3 decades, though their steps may have slowed slightly. They do have shorter lifespans than Echidna's though—who have been known to live thousands of years with the aid of their technological prowess.
Sonic has the ability to siphon energy from certain items in his world. This most often takes the form of the power rings he collects which allows him to gain additional strength and for healing. Though I very much doubt this ability will make an appearance, Sonic is also able to draw Energy from stones called the Chaos Emeralds and gain massive amounts of power. With this additional power, called a Super Form, he's even more ridiculously powerful and blows godmodding out of the water; he's unrealistically fast, superstrong, impervious to all damage, and super..saiyan super.
In the new arc, it's shown that he has the ability to use dark energy to transform into a "werehog", a creature with as much strength as Sonic has speed normally. This only occurs at night and it's shown to take a lot of concentration to control.
Just because I don't feel like writing them all in their own paragraph, have a list of other random crap Sonic can do!
Knows how to Drive
Can Handle a Sword
Can pilot a Plane
Plays the Guitar
Miles (Tails) Prower - Younger Brother and best pal! He would do anything for this kid. He's a little insecure but Sonic believes this hero-in-training can be the best like no one ever was.
Uncle Chuck - His Uncle, family, and makeshift parent. Uncle Chuck is Sonic's family and he loves him dearly, though he'll probably never say so out loud. He dislike how his Uncle worries about his safety, but suppose that's what family does.
Knuckles the Echidna - About a billion percent less cool than him, but Sonic rolls with him anyway. Secretly he acknowledges this guy as an ally but he'll only act as though he's a rival.
Antoine D'Coolette- Some jerk from back home. Sonic gives him a hard time constantly, because that's how things are. Very deep down he acknowledges his bravery and won't forget his sacrifices from back home.
Nott Lovell - One of Sonic's most dependable Freedom Fighters. Or is that most prone to mischief? One day, fox. One day he'll get you back for calling him Mom.
Lucas Kovach - Stuntbro and Derpshura! Can't help but love getting in trouble with this guy. They've had some rough spots, but Lucas is still cool in his book.
Peter Smith (Prisoner 6) - Somehow, Sonic's reluctant mentor and someone who he can consult for advice. Though Sonic gives him a hard time there's no other person he'd rather have as a teacher and mentor. But there's no way he'd ever say that.
Irene Mallidias - Fellow Freedom Fighter and ally. He can appreciate her dry sense of humor and desire to save her world, though she needs to learn how to depend on other people.
Li Shengshun - Sonic's makeshift tutor. He can respect the guys skills and feels sorry for him considering what he's been through. Even so.. Man, Sonic enjoys punching him in the face.
Mary Poppins - Way Cool. Fun to take umbrella rides with!
Amy Rose- Definitely not the Amy he knew. She seems more adult, somehow.

Freedom Fighters Headquarters
Located on the border between the Eastern and Southern district is the Freedom Fighters Headquarters. It's an underground haven that is only accessible to Freedom Fighter members. It's location is only given to members, and even those who know where to find it have to be able to pass the shield that guards the entrance in order to enter.
In a wooded clearing above ground lingers a single solitary tree-stump. If one knows where to look, they will be above to find a trick lever at the base of the stump that will reveal a pathway underground through the top of the hollow stump. In the main entrance, users get to choose between descending via ladder, stairs, or a tube slide that curls around the stairs in order to get to the headquarters below.
To the west of the headquarters is the sleeping area. A row of empty beds with simple covers is here for those who want to take a nap or recover without concern of being bothered. Each bed is given one questionable futon mattress, two standard pillows, one throw cover, and is partially secluded by a small wall. It is easily the most quiet room in the headquarters and seems to have a calming feeling about it.
The Training area provides a wide open space with obstacles for sharpening any and all sorts of skills. Users are free to bend up their own weapons and targets according to their preference. At first the training area will not provide any weapons to practice with, but later on there will be a plethora of weapons to choose from to those who can't bend their own.
Though not a hub of activity, the Supply area is a wide open space for the Freedom Fighters to stockpile supplies. It's rather bare at the moment, but has enough space to hold a wealth of bounties. There are oddly nothing to put these bounties on at the moment, no shelves or cupboards of any kind. The supply area simply stands as an empty room.
The lab area harbors several workstations where inventors can create anything their heart desires. There are sufficient amounts of space for larger creations and to store all the parts that they need. If any inventors require extra materials there is a small pile of scraps from the Nautilus junkyard that they can feel free to pick through.
Off the edge of the lab area is a long airstrip surrounded by two strips of water. The long strip opens to a hole to the surface.
Tunnel Exit (To the Eastern District) - There are two normal tunnels to the surface of the Eastern District, one on the east of HQ and one on the west. These exists are more simplistic than the entrance and simply have a small spiral staircase to the surface. The exit each lets out in another hollow stump in each respective area.
Tunnel Exit (To the North District) - Just off of the Entrance to the east of HQ is a tunnel that ultimately leads to the Northern District. This tunnel is long, narrow, and lit with small lights that are strung overhead. It's walls are smooth and almost concrete-like as it's been cut through rock. This exit lets out underneath a movable tile in an alleyway of the city.
Southern Exit (To the Southern District) - At the south-most part of HQ is an exit to the Southern district. This tunnel is carved through soil and is littered with roots and rocks. There are lights stuck in the ground at even intervals, but it's still difficult to see at some points.
Freedom HQ is small at present but can always expand as needed. If you have a suggestion for an area that you'd like to see added, feel free to comment.
Tandem Bending Master List
Tandem Bending is a coined term for those who combine their bending skills in order to achieve a skill that the individual couldn't normally attain on their own. This (to date) has generally been used and practiced by the Freedom Fighters alone. Below is the list of current tandem bending skills and effects.
Crocker/Tails: "Friendship Beam"; A beam of rainbows and gold rings. The Rainbow suppresses bending ability and the rings impair their ability to move.
Irene/Nott; "Terraforce" A plethora of ribbons and rose-vines rise from the earth to subdue foes.
Irene/Sonic; "Revenant Wings". A ethereal ability which shields the user with a pair of translucent wings as it heals their very lifeforce.
Link/Sonic ; "Final TriSmash" A shield of dark magic purification that can temporarily nullify bending skills. Also causes users to assume a 'super form'.
Nott/Lucas; "Fire Shield". Defensive move that uses both telekinetic abilities and foxfire to shield those inside it from harm.
Shadow/Sonic; "Chaos Burst". Shadow gets a chaos touch for a short period, allowing him mastery of chaos energy. Sonic, meanwhile, is enveloped by chaos energy and becomes a chaos creature.
Uncle Chuck/Sonic; "Family Devotion". Creates a temporary energy shield. It may smell faintly of chilidogs?
Sonic/Irene; "Slot Machine". Generates a random skill every time it's used. These skills may or may not be useful, but they are powerful.
Sonic/Knuckles; "Overdrive": Knuckles gets superspeed and Sonic gets Superstrength. You're all pretty doomed now.
Sonic/Nott; "Flare Tornado". An extremely fast tornado attack surrounded by walls of blue and green fire.
Sonic/Tails; "HyperDash". Not your average spindash, it's a faster and stronger spindash that can break through almost anything. Tails can also create energy rings which will give them a charge of energy for a short period of time.
In November 2013, Sonic established a group called the Freedom Fighters in Nautilus which is based on the team he had back in his homeworld. Freedom Fighters are a collective organization of volunteers who defend Nautilus against any potential bad guys or wrongdoings around the city. They work together for the common good of all the people. They have a secret underground hideout that is located in the East and can only be accessed by members, thanks to a shield that the collective have bent up in order to protect it.
Sonic ascended to be one of the cities angelii in August 2014. He's one of the lesser known angelii since he doesn't make it a point of giving out his title or participating in more sanctioned "angelii activities". He doesn't consider being an angelii anything more than a name and doesn't make it a point of changing how he acts in spite of it.
Sonic's only Angelii ability as of now is Super speed.
